Maggie & Al: A Laid-Back, Love-Filled Farm Elopement in Statesville, NC

On April 4th, we had the absolute joy of photographing one of the most down-to-earth, heart-filled elopements we’ve ever been part of. Maggie and Al said “I do” at a family friend’s farm in Statesville, North Carolina—and it was nothing short of magical.

Now, I’ll be honest—this one had me sweating a little (okay, a lot). Al isn’t just a groom—he’s a fellow photographer and also a friend of Matt's. No pressure, right?! But from the moment we arrived, all those nerves faded away because Maggie and Al’s love and joy for each other was so calming to me!

The farm itself was the kind of place that feels like a deep exhale. Rolling green fields, a warm breeze, and that golden North Carolina sunlight peeking through the trees—it couldn’t have been a more peaceful or personal setting. No grand ballroom, no long guest list. Just their people, their love, and a whole lot of happy tears.

Maggie looked stunning in her flowy, effortlessly classic gown (she seriously glowed all day). And Al? The way he looked at her—you’d think he was seeing magic for the first time. Their ceremony was full of their love for God and each other which made it so sweet, and so full of emotion. 

There were no timelines, no formalities—just connection, celebration, and an overwhelming sense of this is exactly how it was meant to be.

Maggie and Al, you reminded us that the best weddings are the ones that reflect who you are, and yours did just that—beautiful, honest, and full of heart.
