Charley Turns One | Yadkinville 1st Birthday Session on Family Land

There’s something really cool about getting to photograph a family through all of life’s biggest moments—and for Kayce and Zach, we’ve officially come full circle. I’ve had the absolute honor of shooting their engagement photos, wedding, maternity session, and now… Charley’s first birthday.

This session took place on Kayce’s parents’ land in Yadkinville and it’s always the kind of place where kids can run barefoot, the light hits just right, and it somehow gets prettier every time I come back.

Charley showed up ready to party (or at least ready to smash cake) with her three siblings there cheering her on.

Watching her try cake for the first time was hands-down the highlight—she was a little unsure at first but her siblings definitely enjoyed the cake once the session was over. Lots of sticky fingers and frosting-covered cheeks.

These kinds of sessions are my favorite—not overly posed, just full of real moments, big laughs, and the kind of memories you’ll be glad you froze in time. Getting to document this family as they grow has been such a gift, and watching Charley hit this sweet milestone was no exception.
