Branding Photography at The Daylight Room in Plaza Midwood, Charlotte, NC
One of the best parts of this job is getting to photograph people through different chapters of their lives. Steph — the owner of SC Signature Celebrations — was my New Year’s Eve 2024 bride, and her wedding was such a memorable way to close out that year. So it felt like a full-circle moment that she also ended up being my very last shoot of 2025 with this branding session.
We met at The Daylight Room in Plaza Midwood, a bright, minimal Charlotte studio that photographs beautifully any time of day. We shot on Veterans Day, in the soft afternoon light that filled the space with this clean, glowing warmth.
Steph came prepared with three intentional outfits that gave us a ton of variety for her website, Instagram, and upcoming client resources:
1. Pink Trousers — bright, modern, and personality-forward
The first look added a pop of personality with hot pink trousers. We built a small workspace setup — laptop, notebook, planning materials — that captures the everyday side of being a wedding and event planner. These are the kinds of images that make client guides, Pinterest graphics, and social media feel warm and relatable.
2. Black Dress — polished and timeless
She then changed to a classic black dress for elevated portraits against The Daylight Room’s neutral white walls. These images are perfect for her About page, press features, and anywhere her brand needs a clean, professional foundation.
3. Black Jumpsuit — behind-the-scenes storytelling
Her final outfit leaned into the hands-on part of her business. We styled a mock tablescape so Steph could create, adjust, and design in real time. These deeper storytelling images are perfect for showcasing her process, especially for couples wanting a planner who pays attention to every detail.
Steph is one of those people who makes a branding session feel like catching up with an old friend. Between setups, we talked about the recent Jonas Brothers “Greetings From Your Hometown” tour — I went to the Raleigh show, and she went to the Charlotte one. Naturally, we compared setlists and favorite moments.
Why professional branding photos matter
For planners like Steph, branding photos aren’t just for Instagram — they help set a tone for the entire client experience. Clean, consistent visuals tell potential clients that you’re organized, trustworthy, and intentional.
This session gave Steph a full library of:
-
elevated portraits
-
behind-the-scenes storytelling
-
lifestyle workspace images
-
detail-focused shots
-
a cohesive color palette and style
— all in one afternoon.
These images will support her website, social platforms, client guides, and any new offerings she launches in 2025 and beyond.
If you’re a Charlotte business owner looking for modern, natural branding photography, The Daylight Room is the perfect blank canvas — and I’d love to help you bring your vision to life.
