When we flew to Dallas for Hannah and Jon’s engagement session, we still thought we were photographing a Texas wedding. During their session, they showed us the new house they had just bought together and casually mentioned they were actually planning a destination wedding instead.

Fast forward to November 2024, and Matt and I were flying to St. Lucia for Thanksgiving week to photograph their wedding at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.

Honestly, after seeing the entire day come together, we can’t imagine them getting married anywhere else.

A Jewish Ceremony Over the Water

Hannah and Jon were married in the overwater chapel at Sandals Grande St. Lucian surrounded by panoramic Caribbean views. Their ceremony incorporated Jewish traditions, including the breaking of the glass, which made the ceremony feel even more personal and meaningful.

The entire day felt relaxed in the best way. Nothing overly staged or forced. Just genuine reactions, emotional moments, and everyone fully present with them.

Elizabeth Swann-Inspired Bridal Style

Hannah’s bridal look was inspired by Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean, which fit the setting perfectly. Her off-the-shoulder gown from Signature felt romantic and effortless while still fitting the tropical atmosphere of the wedding day.

Paired with a pearl-detailed veil, embroidered bridal socks, and rings from Madberet, everything felt thoughtful and personal without trying too hard.

Sunset Portraits and the Perfect Ending

We snuck away for portraits just before sunset, and the weather could not have been better. Calm water, soft light, and glowing skies over the mountains made for some of our favorite portraits from the entire trip.

Then, at the very end of the night, the skies completely opened up.

Instead of ruining the reception, everyone ended up huddled together under a gazebo eating desserts while torrential rain poured down around them. Somehow it ended up feeling like the perfect ending to the day. Chaotic, fun, memorable, and very much real life.
