Cheyenne & Nathan | Old Hollywood–Inspired Couple Session at the Historic Hotel Roanoke

At first glance, these images feel like they were captured late into the night—but Cheyenne & Nathan’s session was photographed entirely during the day.
That contrast was intentional.

Set inside the historic Hotel Roanoke, this couple session was designed to feel cinematic and nostalgic, drawing inspiration from Old Hollywood film aesthetics, direct flash photography, and deep, shadow-heavy tones. By overpowering natural daylight and leaning into hard flash, we transformed bright interiors into images that feel moody, editorial, and timeless.

“Father of the Bride Meets Carrie & Big”

When Cheyenne described her vision, she summed it up perfectly:
“Think Father of the Bride meets Carrie & Big circa 1999.”

That reference set the tone for the entire session. Romantic but playful. Classic with a little edge. Nostalgic without feeling dated. It wasn’t about recreating a specific era—it was about capturing a feeling that felt iconic, cinematic, and deeply personal to them.

A Session Built on Comfort, Connection, and Trust

From the very beginning, Cheyenne shared that her top priority was finding a photographer she truly meshed with and felt comfortable around. That connection mattered first—before style, before location, before anything else.

Once that trust was established, we talked through the vision she had in mind. The Old Hollywood, film-inspired look she loved leaned darker and moodier than our typical shooting or editing style, and she asked the honest question: Was this something we could create for her?

Those conversations are something we genuinely value. Photography isn’t about fitting every couple into one signature aesthetic—it’s about listening, understanding, and creating images that reflect how you want to remember this season of your life.

Old Hollywood Energy, Styled in Daylight

Cheyenne’s classic white dress became a striking focal point against the darker surroundings, catching the flash in a way that felt effortless and iconic. Nathan’s timeless styling grounded the session, giving each frame a refined, old-soul feel. Together, they moved through the hotel’s hallways, elevators, and lounge spaces naturally—unposed, relaxed, and fully themselves.

This gallery embraces imperfection: visible grain, dramatic flash falloff, deep shadows, and movement over polish. It’s a film-forward approach that prioritizes atmosphere and emotion over perfection, resulting in images that feel lived-in and honest—like stills pulled from a vintage love story.

Capturing Your Day the Way You Want to Remember It

Hotel Roanoke’s historic charm paired seamlessly with this vision, proving that you don’t need nighttime to create drama—intention matters more than the clock. With trust and collaboration, daylight became just another creative tool.

Cheyenne & Nathan trusted us with a vision that felt different, and together we created something that feels entirely their own. That trust is what allows sessions like this to exist—and it’s what we pride ourselves on most.

We’re here to capture your day in the way you want to remember it—not for our own artistic vision or aesthetic, but for yours. Whether that means leaning into something bold and cinematic or keeping things classic and understated, our goal is always the same: images that feel honest, personal, and true to you.

And this one?
Romantic. Nostalgic. Cinematic.
Exactly as it should be.
